Welcome existing members, new members, and visitors to the Palm City Art Associates community of artists. As I prepare for my second year as president, I am still enthusiastic and excited to start a new season. I will continue to gather and brainstorm with the board members to bring new ideas to the members. Last year we brought interactive events to our meetings and are committed to continue with this path. Our paint social at our May meeting was very well received and we will be repeating it again this coming season. We also had a lot of fun with the ‘Paint Around” in January and we have a lot of interest to do another one. We strengthened our partnership with The Village Club and Preserve and will continue to offer painting classes. There are two opportunities scheduled to broaden your art horizon with a Watercolor Convention in September and a field trip to a Museum in January. These are just a few of the events we have in store for you. Please attend meetings starting in October and check your email to get all the information for coming events.
We will continue to build on what we started last year in keeping with the changing times but still maintain our roots. Members meet every second Wednesday of the month from October to May to share and learn. Our Monthly Demo schedule this year is all set and the overhead camera we purchased last year helps to display our demonstrations with an enhanced view. We will be celebrating our 35th Annual Art Show and Sale in February. We maintain partners with local venues to sell your artwork. Our scholarship program is stronger than ever and with a generous donation from a member, we will be now adding a fourth scholarship to a local high school senior pursuing an education in Art.
As president, I cannot do it alone. I work closely with a hardworking dedicated board that brings to the table new ideas and opportunities. There are also over 20 committee members helping to keep the organization going. There is always room for you to get involved and I encourage you all to bring your ideas forward. We are a diverse group of artists and we hope to offer something for everyone.
Please check this website often as it is very informative and up to date.
Looking forward to a creative 2023/2024 season.
Laura Tiano, President
Palm City Art Associates, Inc
Laura Tiano grew up in New Jersey, raised her family there then fulfilled her desire to move to Florida four years ago, and loves Florida living! She always had a passion for art and worked in the Graphic Arts industry after college. Watercolor painting has always been her medium until she recently discovered the quick pace of Acrylics. In her free time, She enjoys golfing, gardening and boating.
Nancy Mich is originally a Connecticut artist. She enjoy painting the barns, churches, and landscapes of the Northeast. She moved to Port St Lucie eight years ago, and now enjoys painting the scenes of south Florida. She paints and teaches in all mediums, Acrylic, Oil, Pastel, and Watercolor.
Lois Brusko started painting when she was 12, taking lessons from a local artist. She painted sporadically over the years until she retired. She moved to Palm City in 2015, and after her husband died a friend invited her to PCAA.
Her accounting background began in the 1980’s when she worked as Office Manager for a firm. In 1997, she took a job as Executive Assistant to the president of a corporation with the added responsibility for Accounts Payable and Receivables as needed.
Alicia English I am a diverse mixed media artist, but prefer acrylic because of its versatility, and use it in many ways to get in touch with whatever mood resonates. Whenever someone feels my artwork maybe we are vibrating through the same frequency? Every creation that flows into my subconscious through the brush to the canvas is genuine, pure and an embodiment of me. A guided visual form of meditation, freedom and automatism. Heart, soul and the innate talent of my parents enable a free-flowing expression, that is unique as our fingerprints. Getting in touch with myself internally is something that can be demanding, but it exposes itself in the most beautiful forms I can relay. I hope anyone and everyone can not only see, but feel, absorb and relate to my paintings on all levels.
I continue to exhibit my originals in New York, California and Florida
Diane Raymond grew up near Philadelphia, married and raised her family in New Jersey. She is a retired art therapist and has enjoyed painting in oils and acrylics since retiring to Palm City in 2010. She paints mainly with oils and acrylics, enjoys painting birds, animals, people, landscapes, seascapes, and all the beauty around.
Donna Jutila moved to Palm City from Connecticut 5 years ago. She has always appreciated the arts but it wasn’t until she lived in Paris in the late 90’s that she had the time to try oil painting. The Treasure Coast’s art community is now providing renewed inspiration.
Dana Meyer I began painting in my early twenties and was hooked from the start. My preferred medium was oil using lots of color and texture. I like mediums that accommodate brush, palette knife and especially fingers. I've never been able to keep my fingers out of the paint. I explored photography for three years, but always came back to painting. Living on a sailboat for twelve and a half years brought exploration into pencil, ink, watercolor and more photography. I have developed macular degeneration which has sent me in a new direction: abstract painting in acrylic where I can indulge my love of color. Exciting, frustrating, satisfying and never the same. Whatever my diminishing eyesight brings, I will still be putting color on canvas.
